(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University senior linebacker Stanley Bikulege (Greer, S.C./Saint Joseph's Catholic) and senior wide receiver John Prather (Olney, Md./Our Lady Of Good Counsel) were both honored for their play in the Tartans 28-7 road victory over Washington University in St. Louis this past Saturday. Bikulege was named Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) and University Athletic Association (UAA) Defensive Player of the Week while Prather was honored as the UAA Offensive Athlete of the Week.
Bikulege recorded a game-high 11 tackles (seven solo) in Saturday's win. With just over three minutes elapsed in the third quarter, the linebacker recorded his second career interception and returned it 10 yards for a touchdown. The senior moved into fourth on the school's all-time tackle list with 214 career tackles and needs 22 more to move into third all-time.
Prather finished the game with 146 yards receiving on eight catches and a touchdown. He became the school's all-time leading receiver, a mark held for 44 years, and has 2,191 yards for his career, as he surpassed Brian Carlock's mark of 2,156 career yards receiving from 1970-73. On the opening 85-yard touchdown drive for the Tartans, Prather recorded three receptions for 66 yards.
Carnegie Mellon will begin its home slate on Saturday, September 9 when the Yellowjackets of the University of Rochester travel to Pittsburgh. Kick at Gesling Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m.
