    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team traveled to Geneva College for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 17, falling to the Golden Tornadoes 5-4 in game one and 7-2 in game two. The Tartans are now 9-19 for the season while Geneva moves to 16-14.
  • Tartans Finish Play at BSC Southern Shootout
    April 16, 2019
    The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team finished play at the Birmingham Southern College Southern Shootout on Tuesday with a 36-hole score of 624 (315-309) to place third in a field of 10 teams. The event was played at the Bent Brook Golf Course in Bessemer, Alabama, a par 72, 5,802-yard course. The team score of 624 is the third-best 36-hole tournament score in program history.

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team hosted University Athletic Association (UAA) opponent Washington University in St. Louis on Friday, April 12 for a doubleheader at its home field UPMC All-American Park in Trafford, Pennsylvania. The Bears were able to come-from-behind in both games to steal two road wins by 5-3 and 7-3 scores.

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team swept two games at Saint Vincent College on Wednesday, April 10 to advance to 8-14 for the season. Freshman pitcher Gwen Delacruz (Laguna Nigel, Calif. / Aliso Niguel) earned a 3-1 victory in game one while freshman pitcher Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Huntington Beach) was the winning pitcher in game two by a 6-4 score after nine innings.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team opened play on Sunday at the 15-team Hershey Cup. The Tartans as a team are in third after carding a 301 on the par-71, East Course at Hershey Country Club. The two-day, 36-hole event finds Franklin & Marshall leading with a 294 followed by Wittenberg University with a 295.

    Freshman pitcher Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach) pitched a complete game and was perfect at the plate to lead the Carnegie Mellon University softball team to its first University Athletic Association (UAA) victory. The win came by a 7-1 score at Case Western Reserve University in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday, April 7. The Spartans held on for a 5-4 win in game one and are now 15-7 and 4-2 for the year while the Tartans are 6-14 and 1-7.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 15th nationally hosted the 16th-ranked Eagles of University of Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon. The Tartans came back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Eagles 5-4. The Tartans are now 7-6 while the Eagles move to 15-4.

    The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team carded a final round of 299 at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama on Tuesday, and placed sixth with a 36-hole score of 603 (304-299). Host, Huntingdon College won the 15-team event with a score of 575 (289-286). The 36-hole event was played at the par 72, 6,979-yard Wynlakes Golf & Country Club and featured nine teams ranked in the top 25 nationally.

  • Vizelman's Three-Set Match Clinches 5-4 Win for #10 Tartans over Division I Saint Francis

    The 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted Division I Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Club and defeated the Red Flash 5-4 following senior Jamie Vizelman's (Highland Heights, Ohio / Mayfield) three-set victory at first singles. The Tartans are now 11-5 overall while the Red Flash are now 3-14.
