Three Named Athlete of the Week by ECAC

(DANBURY, Conn.) – Three Carnegie Mellon University athletes were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) when the organization announced its weekly award winners this week. Volleyball junior Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) and sophomore Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) along with women's soccer senior Haili Adams (Kirkland, Wash./Juanita) were all honored.

Lauren Mueller - South Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Sophomore libero Kayla Yew of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team guided the Tartans to a 5-0 mark last week, as the 13th-ranked Tartans are off to their best start in program history (16-0). Yew picked up 83 digs for the week and extended her double-digit dig streak to 16 games for the season. She recorded a week-high of 22 in the Tartans win over Messiah Additionally, Yew had 14 assists and four service aces.

Kayla Yew - South Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

Haili Adams - South Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Senior Haili Adams recorded four goals and three assists in three games for the Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team this week, as the Tartans topped Allegheny, 9-0, Washington & Jefferson, 1-0, and Westminster, 7-0. On Sunday, Adams recorded her third career multi-goal game and first career hat trick and put in the game winner. Against W&J, Adams assisted on the game winner. She's now second on the team and tied for third in the UAA in goals scored with six.
