Mark Fisher is currently in his 15th year as Sports Information Director at Carnegie Mellon University. Fisher came to Carnegie Mellon in September 2004 from Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., where he served as Assistant Sports Information Director for two years.

As the sports information director for Carnegie Mellon, Fisher oversees the daily operations of the sports information department, handles the athletic department publicity advertisement, keeps statistics, reports scores and writes press articles in promoting Tartan Athletics.

Fisher serves as the main contact for football, men's basketball, and golf. He splits coverage for volleyball, cross country, track and field and tennis. During his tenure at Carnegie Mellon, the Sports Information Office has promoted a total of 88 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America honorees.

Fisher is a 2001 graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania where he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing. While at Edinboro, he worked four years in the sports information department. During the summer of 2001 he interned with the Erie SeaWolves, a Double –A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, and then worked one year with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, a Single-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians in Niles, Ohio.

In the spring of 2012, 2015, and 2018 he assisted with the media relations efforts for the First and Second Round games of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championships, hosted by Duquesne University at the PPG Paints Arena. He also assisted in the spring of 2007 and 2010 with the media relations efforts for the First and Second Round games of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championships, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh at the Petersen Events Center. Other accomplishments of Fisher’s include a statistician for nine years at the Erie McDonald’s Classic, regarded as one of the top four team high school tournaments in the country, and a statistician for an NFL exhibition game in July of 2001 at Edinboro University. He has also worked as a statistician for Comcast Cable and Root Sports Pittsburgh sporting events.

In June 2012, Fisher was the co-host of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Association (ECAC-SIDA) Workshop at the Renaissance Hotel in Pittsburgh. He is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as well as a member of ECAC-SIDA where he served on the executive board for five years. Fisher held the position of Past President in 2017-18, President in 2016-17, First Vice-President in 2015-16, Second Vice-President in 2014-15, and was the College Division Representative in 2013-14. 

Fisher, originally from Pittsburgh, resides in Kennedy Township with his wife Tara and their 12-year old daughter Alivia and nine-year old twin daughters Alaina and Amaya.
